Finally!
Well, it is finally finished…almost. After a year of toil, yes you heard right, our sun room/play room/craft room is organized. I have spent months moving piles from one spot to another because I didn’t like how it worked out organizationally and now, wahahahah, it is done….kinda.
So here’s what I ended updoing to put a bullet in my torture. I got a tape measure out last Thursday and measured all of the walls, window and door placements, stair placements and then drew a scaled down model of the room. 1inch = 1/4 cm. Then I measured all of my furniture and shelving that I wanted to shove into this space and again, scaled it down and cut templates out. I sat for a good 1/2 hour arranging my templates and voila, I was able to figure out a configuration that works out beautifully. Shockingly so, in fact.
I still have some stuff to go through in order to have it 90% useful - 100% is not possible, ever, and I’m totally happy with that. I was able to arrange every piece of furniture to fit except one and I was debating about losing that one anyway. It was a cheap little sewing table I bought at a garage sale for $10. It never worked like I wanted it to anyway so T took it out of the room for me. I love man muscles.
The final few things that I am needing to do is have T finish flooring the stairs, get the TV, VCR, DVD Player and Stereo out here so it can be a real family room. Finally, since the room is blistering hot in the summer I need to make shades for the monstrous windows and I feel giddy about my solution. I am planning to use painters muslin, ($9) at Costco to make Roman Shades. One drop cloth will cover 1 1/2 windows so for around $100, that will include any decorative fabric or beading I decide to use, I will have window coverings. I am very excited.
Now I am feeling inspired to sew, craft and scrap my little heart out. I almost can’t believe that my house is put together. As a SAHM, having my domain managable is a gift that I am holding onto with a tight fist.
